hardbOiled has a great thread going on wet/dry. Great pics and descriptions.

I have a few questions though.

How do I get the water from my main tank into the sump? I have no overflows

how do you ensure you don't have more water coming into the sump than going out?

My plan is to use a powerhead to pump the water from the sump back into the main tank.

How many gph do I need??

The sump would be an empty 20 gallon tank with the bio balls in a plastic container mounted to the top of the 20 gallon sump.

Any ideas appreciated :clap

or make the pump less gph than the overflow can handle...thats a surefire way of keeping things cool

I built that overflow that eh1421 posted and it is flawless

yep sure is the intake side is the 90 at the top

My tank is up against a wall. How do I position this thing so I can suck on the vent to start the siphon??? My tank is 8' X 2' X 2'.

mine started to flow on its own. If you put an air tube on the check valve you can use it to suck the excess air out.

You Could also put a flow to the return so you can control the flow rate. Just put a ball valve into the return and you can control flow rate.

Drill the bottom and use a stand pipe.

Then what? just use more pvc to connect the "T" to the drip tray??

I would need photos. I'm a visual creature...
