I'm looking for a good wet pet for my 55 gallon. I have no central focal point in the tank right now.
I like Oscars, but obviously they get too big. Any suggestions? It has to get along with bristlenose plecos, a green phantom Pleco, a juvy bgk and a flying fox type of algae eater.
I have two Rena xp3's running on it.

I have a Nandus Nandus that I'm growing out in a 30 gallon and he's pretty quirky. they get about 8" max so might fit the bill

"African leaf fish" or the leopard ctenopoma.

I'd personally opt for a gulper cat (yes they're fine in a 55) or maybe a smaller species of wolf fish.

I would do a gulper cat too, pretty unique fish

gulper would eat them yes, dont they get 12inch too, some 55's are 12 inch wide!? think you have confused people with the title wet pet which implies a lone pet pal.

nandus nandus are very cool and worth a google, someone else just posted a similar thread i will paste what i advised!-)

could do some rare convicts like hrp or pinks, 5 star general aka hemichromis elongatus or frempongi, red jewel cichlid breeding groups are impressive if you get some really red ones. what about a leopard ctenopoma or nandus nandus both really cool mini predators. erm thats all i can suggest for active fish, obv there are lots of catfish if thats your thing, might get away with a fresh water barracuda they are cool.
