Wet Sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well out of the 6 pool supply shops I visited today only one has the filter sand, and she wanted $20 per 25lb bag! I chuckled and asked if it was made out of gold? I didn't end up getting it.

On the way home I past by a Home Depot and I figured just for kicks I'll go in and see what they have. Sure enough I found the perfect sand! :nilly:
Its quite coarse (more so then the pool sand I saw today) and the color works well with the south American theme I intend to do. There was quite alot of dust in it and it took a few hours to rinse it all to an acceptable state. I bought two 55lb bags and have about 2/3rds of a bag left over for my 20 gallon fry tank. $13 CDN for 110lbs, you cant go wrong!

Well here it is...
Still a little dusty but that should settle down eventually. I'll post another pic once it settles.

EDIT: oh if your wondering about all the random fish in there, their only there cause my last heater is busy hatching brine shrimp.

Looks good & sounds like you got a great deal! Be careful of your decor because the loaches will dig under them & can crush themselves if they collapse rock piles or stacked driftwood pieces. Good luck!

I'll keep it in mind when adding decor. Thanks:)
