thanks..this is my first time owning JD..any advice for to get them to breed? should i do anything to make them breed as far as putting slates etc?

mm not really they will do just fine on their own, there's some things that you can do to "stimulate" them like raising the temperature of the water but that's about it. It's funny because all my fish normally breed for the first time when I'm away on vacations and such, every time I go on a trip and don't have access to the tank for a week or 2, I come home to find eggs heh
