Missed the last episode, have those two guys been released from the japanese poachers?and just what do the japs do with the whale parts,I have never heard of whale being eaten by humans.

i love that show! I'm not much into the whole PETA stuff but these guys are FEARLESS! It's awesome. But Capt Watson and the first mate are a little extreme. I loved when the lady told the Greenpeace radio person to "Get your head out of your @$$" THAT WAS AWESOME!! lol:headbang2

I watched it,and its a good thing those two shipjumpers were released. The japanese poachers could have thrown them over, they are already doing whatever they want so imagine how they could have treated a pair of intruders to their ship.

I love it when the whaling ships hold up huge signs claiming they are researchers! When was the last time you saw researcher harpooning and carving up protected species to learn more about them? Especially on a ship deck and not in a controlled environment like a lab.

I'm not sure about what kind of reasurch they are doing but has everyone hissed the fact the in the show they even said that the vast majority of international lawyers said that what the japanese are doing to leagal. but that wack job of a captain doesn't agree so that gives them the right to become pirates?! I don't agree with that. If you are well withing the limits of the law and have this much footage to prove what they are doing is wrong why isn't the austarilian government out there doing something when the sea shepheard spots and catches a whaling ship red handed? B/c it is in the grey to legal area of the law so nothing will be done. so I think they should have thrown those two wackos that illegally boarded the whaling ship over when the heli left. No one could ever say if they jumped willingly and the bodies would hav enever been found.

If you're out in the ocean and someone comes and throws ACID on your ship would you not want to do something back?

well the law states that 1000 whales can be killed each year and disected for research into diet and migration patterns so forth. So it is legal to kill the whales for research. The Japaneese claim this is what they're doing but theyre really skipping the middle step and just selling the meat, they don't do any research. the reason why they can sell the meat is because the law dictates all meat must be sold and none can be wasted. and they never share the results of thier research so somethings fishy.

So it's not the japanese it's the law that needs to be changed to say something along the lines of valid reasurch must be varified BEFORE going to see and you have X amount of days-weeks-months to show your findings. If no findings then great punishment.

Either way the guy who runs the ship is a wackjob. If you get kicked out of greenpeace when your a founder b/c your to radical you might as well join ALF. or admit to doing terrorist work. b/c is that not what they are doing to the whaling ships? If there was a boat off the coast of the US throwing acid onto a oil tanker b/c they didn't like the polution the oil casues you better believe they are going to cuba for awhile.

I agree Paul pushes the line. But what lawyer will say pouching internationally protected animals is legal?

Killing a whale is now a way to study it's migration pattern? Hardly. Legal reserach is conducted by permitted bodies, not by whaling ships. If they are legal, why not stop and share what you are studying with an animal rights group with TV cameras and get it known that you are helping? All they would have to do is stop the boat, show the research permits and shake hands. Running away shows guilt 99.99% of the time. Method of sample collectiong doesn't line up with scientific data documentation what so ever (based on what video I've seen of them butchering these animals on deck). Sample collecting is a careful process to be done in a controlled environment to prevent contamination of the extraction.

When we go out collecting sharks, we talk to anyone and everyone that wants to know what we were doing. Last time out, law enforcement even come out to double check on our permits to be in the area we were in, and taking only the animals we were permitted to take. We welcomed them and were more than willing educate those around us with what we were doing. That is the point of research right? Education?
