What’s growing on my wood?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've pulled and discontinued using driftwood due to that stuff growing.I understand it is harmless but I just never liked the looks of it.Peroxide hunh? I will have to keep that in mind for possible future use.

So if I was to use peroxide just take the wood out of the tank and soak it in peroxide for how long? Or just wipe some peroxide on it?

It took a Siamese algae eater less than 1 week to tear through my entire tanks worth of beard algae.
Would recommend them if you never want your tank to have any of the green stuffs in it again.

Are they Aggressive at all? How big do they get?

I had this stuff in a low tech planted discus tank before. My experience is you can't really stop it, just contain it. A tank with this algae isn't a good place for plants like anubias where the algae can really get a foothold.

More skittish if anything.
Like a red tail shark shaped tank Roomba but without the chasing tankmates part.
Careful to differentiate between S.A.E and flying foxes, which act much more similar to their red shaped cousin.
Probably easiest to tell by the thin brighter stripe just above the black bar on the fish, while S.A.Es will have a block colour.
