What’s is going on with my fire eel ??

Isnt keeping spiny eels in a tank with gravel not advisable for this very reason?

It wasn’t the gravel, or scratches. it was ich I used a second treatment and its clearing up i got this eel a couple days ago no visible signs of anything and he messed up my whole tank with his ich it was not visible when I got him at all so I figured he was good I should of quarantined him before putting him in my tank big mistake I’ll never make again my ph is 7 everything else in at 0 or 2 ppm

I agree it looks like a lot of little scrapes that may have irritated his slime coat??? Also judging by the pics, your tank looks like there could be a lot of sharp decor he could be scraping on as he tries to fit inside them???

I took a ton of stuff out because your right most spaces were tight for him to fit in, he’s doing a lot better now, it turns out it actually was ich because it spread to my other fish I have done 2 treatments now at half dose and everything seems to be clearing up
