Hello everyone,

I have several tanks right now but they are 30g and 40g.

And I had an empty 10g yesterday so I started cycling it with a fancy guppy.

Basically I want to put 1 fish. But what is the biggest/best looking single fish I could get in a 10 gallon that would live either his entire or most of his life. I plan on starting a 55g aquarium soon so if it outgrows my 10g in the last portion of its life I will transfer it to the 55.

But hit me up with suggestions.

you need to put a community fish in there if you want to keep it int here forever a lot of them dont get bigger than an inch or two. it really would be very nice to "wedge" a cool looking fish that might out grow the tank. honestly id say a green spotted puffer, but do a lot of research on them first. You could also try some electric blue crawfish..... those two wont out grow the tank and they are very cool.

do a fishless cycle and then add the puffer when everything's ready

x3 that's about the best suggestion for a ten gal.

I agree with the schooling fish or crayfish. Maybe schooling fish/shrimp and stuff.

I had a figure 8 puffer in a 10 gallon for a while, and i really liked the guy, but then i added salt too quick for him and he just kinda died off. Still kind of pissed that i let that happen but sometime i'll grab another one for my 10 and just add salt very slowly over about a month or so after he has been in the tank for about a month or so.
