Don't know if anyone else has this problem, but apparently the cichlid gold pellets + high temps = rotting flesh smell. I've changed half of my water in an attempt to get rid of it, to no avail, and it's literally taking my breath away! I think tomorrow the whole tank is getting drained, and refilled, maybe that'll beat the smell... Any suggestions?

Add carbon to you filter, that will help with the smell. Do you have lots of left over in tank water or something?

I was actually amazed that it began to smell, if any is left over, it generally gets vacuumed up in an hour. I did find a few pieces the crays were stashing though.

Feed less and vac all ur sub, food can also get trapped in ur filter. Never had that happen before.

Gotta vacuum the stupid tank again today, I think I might take all but what covers her fin, then refill. Just need to find something to entertain myself while I work...

I think I wore a groove into the floor... I had to fill about 30+ gallons with a 2 gal bucket! XD I've gotten my exercise for the day. Now all I have to do is move the rabbits' cages off of my bed and detrash after Hurricane Zackary rolled on through lol

OH! Btw, it was my cartridges that were stinky, I rinsed them out in the old tank water and the smell is completely gone.

Good to know you got the problem resolved.
