I posted my setup a while back it was a nice selection of malawi cichlids and everyone was telling me the Auratus would start harassing the other fish. I have not observed this behavior yet. When does this usually happen? He is the only auratus in the tank with electric blue , socolofi ,yellow labs peacocks red zebra etc.

Electric Blue? Johanni?
Like the Auratus, these are also in desperate need of anger management!
I would say around 3", but it has been a very long time since one of those hellions terrorized my tank. Rule of thumb is beware the horizontally striped!!! If things get too out of hand, just dose the tank with prozac or xanax! LOL

I recently added an auratus to my established 55g Mbuna tank and it's doing ok. Because it's considerably smaller then some of my other fish, they seem to keep it in check. I think it's much worse to have auratus' and then add fish to a tank with them in it already. It also can depend on the individual fish so even though I've read so many probs about them, I'm sure there's a ton of people that have no probs also.

Mine is actually 3" now and one of the more passive fish. How odd. He's the yellow and black horizontal fish. Must be the klonipin residue on my hands affecting the fish :)

So females don't have fangs?
If she weighs the same as a duck, is she a witch?
Just asking.

Females are not as aggressive as males. However almost all my "females" killed the older males, then showed their true male coloration. So I would guess females are not as aggressive.

My 5yr old Auratus never had fangs. lol.
But he was crazy aggressive, but he calm down, but showed dominance.
