What age do Auratus grow their fangs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hmm Still see little agression from him or her. The biggest socolofi is a bit of a terror that is for sure.

All fish have different personalities I've seen sime aurtus terrorize fish tanks yet mine of 2 and a half years lives peacefully with a johanni and maingano in the same tank. I've not seen any fangs on my aurtus only my cichlasomas and parachromis species.

I added a yellow lab last night and it murdered it rather quickly. I think its fine with the other fish because it grew up with them... Anything new it seems to eat first and question later.

Yeah the timing was perfect on that one lol . My auratus is a wimp (Meanwhile he is eating my new fish.

with africans you never know whats going to work out. i have a mel. auratus albino that is all beat to heck and back-i pulled him out of the 180 gallon and hes in a hospital tank-hes missing most of his tail-poor guy.

i have had Auratus for many years.... the last one i had just passed from old age.. they have never been bullys in my tank..male or female.. they never bothered anyone.. i think some thoughts on the subject should be revised... once in awhile maybe there is an aggressive one... just as there are electric yellows that are not docile.. all individuals and all tank environments are different..creating different temperments..

My female Auratus rules the tank most definitely. Don't notice any fangs. She is not as bad as a Socolofi that was given to me once. I was in a LFS when this girl said she was moving and couldn't take him with her and the LFS wouldn't take him back. So... that was my first cichlid. That little bastard killed 600$ worth of cichlids before killing himself!!!

I agree I have owned sever auratus this is the first death in a tank related to one. Never so much as bullying before.
