Hey all

My 3.5" cuban is realy starting to dominate my five foot tank. The main targets for his aggression are the 2.5" Texas and 3" GT. He chases them constantly, even more so after a good meal?!

They seem to be coping well at the moment, and they both look in good health (no ragged fins etc), but at what age/size will this chasing become more violent or damaging?

hello mate, well my jag went through this stage at around 6months old,
went crazy with the oscars, what i did was took out jag, then rehomed all the rocks and plants leaving the others a couple of hours to get settled, then rebagged the jag and floated him for a furher 2 hours,,,after that day had no problems<thank god>
cichlids can be agressive from very young, my lfs has a tank with firemouths and a blue acara<at 1.5-2inches and it goes for all the fires

Thanks for the reply fella. I dont think I need to rearrange the tank just yet, as I say, everyone seems healthy and happy at the moment. There is a definate pecking order - Cuban chases GT/Texas, GT chases texas/Jag, Texas cahses Jag/ Salvinis, Jag chases Salvinis......

I was more wondering when the chasing will turn into something causing more physical damage?

as long as there are no injuries or fish that are stressed to the point that they barely eat, etc. then you probably don't need to remove any fish or anything drastic yet.
