How much does whole beefheart cost?

At walmart, you could go catfish nuggets which costs about $2 per pound. You may want to check the earthworms for preservatives- I know some people here are hesitant to use bait earthworms as feeders.

The catfish nuggets are just made to stink really bad so you can catch them. I dont really see them having much nutritional value.

NOT catfish stink bait.

Catfish nuggets as in the human food. Sold in 5 lb boxes in the frozen seafood section for about ten bucks.

The big Walmarts have a frozen seafood section as well as a fresh section.

Damn, none of mine do. One is currently being converted into a "mega" walmart (bigger than supercenter). They are adding on the food side now, so maybe they'll add that. I hope so. I get my beefheart for $3-4 each. You'll want to cut out nearly half of the heart getting rid of fat. Then cut it to size for your fish, stick it in a ziplock, and freeze. I usually get two ziplocks per heart, which will last forever, as you don't want to overfeed it (especially to cichlids). I feed it once a week in a feeding routine where I give these types of foods every other day. As much as my cichlids love it, my polys LOOOVE it.

Also, don't forget to keep your staple ahead of these types of foods. Make sure they are still getting the balanced diet before giving the "treats".

I feed my fish a variety they will get spoiled off stuff like that and not eat pellet food I give them blood worms and krill as a treat mostly feed mine omega one super color and the veggie omega one pellets omega one is some great fish food but kinda costly

tilapia fillets are also a very good alternative and not particularly expensive, lasts a long time if it is for smaller cichlids

precooked won't hurt them, per se. It just won't help them as much. If you were trying to make an argument that it would hurt them it would be that fish are not used to consuming meat that has had it's proteins denatured by heat (i.e. cooked), therefore they won't be able to digest some of it.

I only feed mussels to my puffer, the rest of the seafood I put into a frozen food mixture I make that includes bananas, broccoli, carrots, peas, chicken liver, shell on shrimp, brine shrimp, garlic extract, paprika and some other stuff. Shoot me a pm if you want the recipe, it's an omniverous food that I have had great success feeding to all kinds of fish. It will brighten their colors, make them more active, and, in a few cases, induce spawning. I guess it's only problem is that it's too good, so I only feed it every other day. Plus it's like $15 for 2-3 months supply.

Your saying $15 for 2-3 months supply is a great deal right...? cause I spend around $10- $15 a day feeding one tank. 50-60 raw shrimp, 2 dozen earthworms, 50 feeders, Hikari massivore delite, with occasional share of crickets, fish fillets, squid, octopus, ghost shrimp, beef heart, krill, ect. What are you feeding... and how much a day?
