It may be stressed, but it is NOT only a Texas. After looking at Matts pictures, I am leaning towards Tex x Con myself. BUT NOT A STRAIGHT TEXAS.

I gotta agree with everyone else. I've had convicts breed with other cichlids a few times, not uncommon at all.
