Well, that explains the pit digging and the really black underside at the moment. She's housed with a male convict and an unsexed firemouth. All she seems to be doing is keeping them out of the area she is digging in.
H. cyanaguttatus ...possibly male. The spots of this species of fish are more uniformly lined unlike the Carpinte. I can't see any black blotch in the dorsal, which would indicate female.
Here are some new updated pictures, I'm definitely thinking female now. I used my digital camera this time for pics instead of being lazy and using my cell, so much better quality.
I'm changing to Texas. Originally thought it was just a big fish, but now obviously it's a fish with really small and uniform pearlings. So yeah Herichthys cyanoguttatum, not Green Texas (Herichthys carpintis). That or hybrid of the two.
