Ok this guy was labeled as a retropinnis (wild caught) for $69.99. Don't believe he is upper jaw. I think he is a lower jaw maybe a Congicus, reason for this is there was a Congicus that looked like an upper jaw birchir at the same store. My guess the supplier mixed up the names. He is about 8-9 inches long, has some yellow in his fins, has a funky pattern around his eye. and been in my quarrantine tank about 3-4 hours, got his for $5 cheaper cause they seem me at the place all the time. I'll post the pic of what was labeled as a Congicus in another thread. So what are you guys/girls guesses? Lower Jaw (I hope)?

it is a protruding upper jaw species, and it is a retropinnis, which are all WC.

I agree, it's a juvie retropinnis. Color will darken and show some pattern to it after it settles in. Nice pick up! :)

these guys always look nice but they stay too skinny for my taste. nice retro though!

Thank you guys both. Is $65 a decent price for him? Also how common are they at LFS?

availability depends on the location. in general, they are becoming more common now at LFS, but not nearly as common as say senegal or ornate. the palmas polli in your other post is a more common species than this.

Thanks. I like fat birchers too, but I might keep this guy for a while.

Thank you again.

pretty sure its a retro.

Thanks, so far that has been the common theme, so I'm going with it.

Lucky man, I can't find any retros available especially locally.
