Thinking about getting a fish or snails or something that remove algae. One thing about snails is, the fish might eat them. Ive thought of clams but I dont think they get on the glass, only stay on the ground. As far as fish, theres pleco's and Algae eater, but plecos crap alot and get big, same with algae eaters and they get aggressive too. What would be a good candidate to get for algae in the tank and on the glass?

Elbow grease and a scrubby pad work best and pollute least. Otherwise, Siamese algae eaters don't get aggressive and eat algae. Oticinclus are good. Bristlenose plecs and clown plecs and falowara (I spelled that WAY wrong) are also good.

If you want an algae eating fish, bristlenose plecos are my favorite, although best thing is to rid the tank of what causes there to be an algae problem

This is my best defense.......his names "Biggie"
hehe I will always recommend plecos. Ive never liked snails. A nice soft rag and gettin your hand wet works too but I usually dont have to when I have plecos just watch their sizes :)

less overfeeding, more water changes, more plants...

there are small plecos that stay "small" (max of 6" or smaller) and look great..
none of the small ones are exactly "known" for being algae cleaners... then again none of the big ones will keep yer tank free of algae either..

it comes down to solving the problem yourself insted of getting a fish to do it

pitbull plecos are great stay small so they poop small and the dont get aggressive and they look cool too

I cant tell whats causing the problem. I dont overfeed, and I got tons of live plants. Only 2 fish in the tank, 1 is a perch and only eats live food, and the other his a ghost knife that I feed frozen bloodworms to. And I thaw the worms and drop it on one spot and usually the whole pile falls in one place. And the knife gobbles it all up. I cant think of whats causing it.

Bulldog plecs do wonders for algae problems and otocinclus are great for small tanks. Remember that L no. plecs such as Panaque and Hypancistrus need wood in their diets as this contains lignin which is vital for digestion.
