What are good algae removers?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
snails just leave a bunch of trails carved throughout the algae. I guess they keep it under control, but they don't get rid of it. a good pleco will eat algae.

Like said before, nothing's better than a rag and some elbow grease.

I agree with just about every one else a pleco could help the problem but but doing it yourself is still the most affective. The big thing for me about my bristle nose is that there will be one bad spot on the tank and they will get all of it but a few eraser size dots so agrivating.

Nerite snails are aweseome at cleaning up a tank. I stuck some in my undrgravel filter tubes and put the cap back on when they were really algae ridden and now they are spotless. They move from tube to tube moving underneath the UGF tray. They really do clean things up. I've also stuck them in overflows before to clean. Also, bristlenose plecos only get 4-5" and they do a great job on my tanks.
