well i think my oscar is agressive enough for the red devil because all it does is hide when it sees my oscar plus ima probably end up putting a red terror and parachromis friedrichsthalii in there to spread out the agression. im stilll not too sure tho?? any more suggestions?

Oscars have nothing on Red Devils in the aggression department. We're talking about a fish (the RD I mean) that a lot of keepers will tell you that as soon as a person walks in the room, they start flaring and getting angry. Once a Red Devil reaches a certain size, they become intolerant of anything in a tank. That goes for thermometers, filter intakes, tank mates and often times hands/siphon hoses.

i no you dont believe me about my oscar but he is one mean guy the meanest oscar ive had. he also attacks the wall flaring his gills and doesnt let me clean the tank without charging at my hand....ohhh snapp thats crazy about red devils ive never owned one but have heard storys bout them but mines about 8 inches and is a wussy at the moment i hope he stays like this

firemouths are wimps, a pair of larger convicts about 6" and 5" would easily control the tank, and in my opinion the devil, as the cons mate like every month the parents get very aggressive and attack me all the time i put my hand in the tank! and if u dont like plain cons their are marble, pink/albino- the same fish.

Yours isn't fully matured yet, but at ANY given moment, regardless of how aggressive your Oscar is.... That Red Devil will beat on it and wont stop until it's dead. It could happen tonight or in 2 months. Any Red Devil should be treated as a ticking time bomb. It's not a matter of if, but when they snap. When they do, it's a massacre.

gosh your starting to scare me do you think theres any fish that will keep the red devil from becoming king of the tank?? i have some small red terrors but they will take for evr to grow.. any suggestions??

Jags would be cool but they're so damn aggresive. If you don't care for regular jack dempseys, try a couple electric blue jack dempsey's. I got three myself here several months ago. Beautiful fish.

Red Devils, Midas (same family as the RD), Festae, Flowerhorns, Dovii and Umbees are examples of fish that a lot of people keep solo because they become intolerant of ANYTHING in the tank. Like I said, that goes for filter intakes, thermometers, decor, hands, siphon hoses and so on. I would love to have any one of them fish, but they just don't mix with my current stock so there is no way I'd ever put them with my current fish. I'm not saying these things to "scare you" or anything like that. These fish you're keeping get their names for a reason. They're known to be vicious killers.

EBJD's would not go well with his current stock. They're usually far less aggressive than their regular counterparts. The odds of an aggressive one are about the odds of a non aggressive Red Devil. Slim.
