Looking to get rid of it then?

On a side note, is there a good place to find small ones of these? About 3" or so?

Not at all I love him to death, just wouldn't suggest one for someone who wants an active fish :)

I saw a few of them at a lfs and they were just sitting there liek logs. Not sure if it was just them or what. Are they pretty boring? Moreso than ornates? thx

You wouldn't happen to be in Sacramento, would you? One of the bigger lfs' around here has a pair of them for $89.99 each. I thought about it, but there were issues in some of the tanks around them and little wiggly white things on them and in the tank... So, I opted to pass on them. From the look of it, I made the right decision, at least until I get my 150 up... it will be more bare, so hiding fish will bother me less.

i love mine. luckily i'm up very late so i get to see her swim and hunt, usually around 3-6am. i don't know if all laps have such long finnage(?) but when she swims she almost doubles her width. i got her at a lfs for $20 at about 5", i don't think they had any idea what she was.(by the way i don't know for sure if she is female for sure.)

My lap is bit more active than the ornate, and I just love the way he looks! He's my first lower jaw species, and he has such a primitive crocodilian look to him. Even when he's just laying around he keeps his dorsal finlets up, and always looks ready to grab anyone swimming by. My kids have named him Croc, and think he's fierce. I'd say he's only slightly agressive than the others, but not problematic, just a bully. :D

I'd agree, not for the casual keeper, but a great fish none the less.
