What are my options for algae eating fish?

Most algae eaters will attach themselves to the side of other fish if not properly fed. Even otos can be observed doing this.

make sure plecos have enough greens to munch on. I use frozen romain lettuce as well as the algae wafers. In my tank, there are also plenty of algae for them to munch on.

I had a lot of luck with butterfly loaches (sold as hong kong pleco or hong kong algae eater) they eat like crazy and don't get too big, and they're fun to watch too. But it did become a snack for my catfish eventually.

One danger with these, is that most species need cool waters, 65dF-72dF.

make that all of them...

Only thing i can think of besides an algea scrubber are snails of one kind or another, or cherry shrimp. Cherry shrimps are probably one of the best at eating multiple species of algae. Get to 1", very hardy, look nice.

I got 3 fish that were sold to me as Siamese Algae Eaters, look like oto's or Flyin Foxes and could be either. Got them at around 1 1/2 inches - think they grow to 4" - and they have done a great job of cleaning the algae - green and brown - off the plants, rocks and glass of the tank at my kitchen window. I think a small pack of these and a bristlenose and you'll be sorted. Throw 5 Amano shrimp in there too and you'll have a great set of tank cleaners.
