you can get any arowana you want as long as it isn't an asian

Yeah, legaly but I still would not recommend keeping any species in a 75g.

You should look into pike cichlids and take a look at the site's pike cichlid forum. They are built a lot like snakeheads, legal and predatory. Some would outgrow a 75g but there are others that would fit nicely.

BTW, snakeheads do look like bowfin but they aren't. Snakeheads belong to the Channidae family...basically a snakehead is a snakehead.

You could go for a small wolffish, Red hifin wolf. there preditory, visable teeth and only 8". Great little monsters.

Another I have only discovered recently are 'Nandus' leaffish, not aggresive so you can keep a number of them, I am constantly surprised what they can fit in there mouth.

Hope i've helped.

Is your avatar a Wolf Fish? Because if it is i'd like to hunt down a few.

75g is too small for arowana. can probably house a juvenile for 6 months or so. not a good idea. if you want predators how about some exodons, Red belly Pirahna. Polypterus senegalus are cool i have got a few. you might like those.

exodons are like having piranhas that arent boring (no offense to all you P fans, but the ones that i've seen in the new england aquarium and at my friend's houses didnt move much. exodons are fascinating hunters.

I have a small red high-fin wolffish in my 36 (will be upgrading)

he seriously, constantly moves (unlike hoplias) and is the only wolffish that I know of that is as enthusiastic about flakes as rosy reds...

here are pics

No thats a snakehead, Channa Bleheri, one of the smallest and peaceful.

They're cool looking little bugger's. I suppose they're illegal too unfortunately, at least where I live but maybe not. I live in Michigan so maybe I could scrounge up a few.
