What are some colorful catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are too many to list and, besides, beauty is in the eye of a beholder.

Hence, you could filter Planet Catfish Cat-eLog by size (I'd not exceed 1' TL, that is ~9"-10" SL) and see what satisfies two initial conditions: strikes your fancy and is available and affordable to you.

I agree on the pictus school. 6 minimum, 12 is real nice. A school like that would definitely be quirky, active and they are very pretty too.

Great! I'll start hunting through the website, and probably end up getting that pictus some schooling companions.

As pictus grow they school less and squabble more over territory. Adults can be quite grouchy. Hence, the need for a large school.

Jaguar cat fits the bill for you. Mot color but patterns. About 6" and a voracious eater.

Where can I find jaguar catfish? I've looked at various online sources, but they all seem to be out of stock. Maybe it's just the wrong time of year..?

They being light sensitive isn't really a big deal for me. I've become accustomed to stop worrying that my Striped Raphael is dead, and assuming he will come out of hiding when he wants to. I'm sure the same would happen for the Jaguar.

I am also interested in the idea of clown loaches, but my research shows they grow well beyond 6" and absolutely require a school. Is there perhaps a smaller breed of the clown loach?
