amen. trout are common name, even minnows and cichlids can have that name. Mostly like different species of trout.

Brown trout aint north american trout, they're european trout and few asian trouts.

Thanks MN_Rebel, A 12 inch live predatory life bearer peaked my interest, seeing as how most live bearers i'm aware of are pretty mild.

A cold water fish that i find VERY interesting; even though it may not be the most colourful, or from south america(that i know of) is any species of sturgeon, most grown pretty big but sterlets are managable.

Their latin name is Alloophorus robustus. And its not easy to hold of these goodeids, in picture this goodeid is young, not fullgrown. But i found it on interent, not mine.

I read about them in TFH mag in passing article never saw one real interesting

Theres not too many rare and wild livebearers in the pet stores but they are easy to hold of them depends on what species they have (most auctions, aquabid and private breeders).

Im getting a group of Goodea atripinnis- another large goodeid species that looks like a "freshwater" shark but give birth live fry. Whats interesting is that adult Goodea wont eat their own fry.

But i always wanted have Bulldog goodeid but they are hard to find and very hard to breed due their parents being fry eaters.

In case you dont know what Goodea atripinnis looks like, heres the picture from Interent.

Chanchito, another coldwater SA cichlid.
