Besides java moss, what are some plants that grow and spread quickly in low light/low tech setup?

Thanks!

brian

Amazon swords, Wisteria, and Java Fern.

^thanks. What about Vallisneria or Sagittaria?

Often times light light and fast growing dont go well with each other.
-Amazon swords are a little of both, but can get huge (mine is more than a 18inches wide, 20 inches tall.
-Wisteria and watersprite are fast growers that tolerate lower light, and take up nitrite/nitrate very readily.
-Most vals dont do well with low lighting, and end up "melting".
-Java fern is a hardy plant, will accept lower lighting, but certainly isn't a fast grower.
-Anubias (any specie) is a very hardy plant, also accepts just about any lighting scheme, but a medium growth rate.
-Anacharis is a very fast grower, likes higher lighting, but will accept lower.
-Sagittaria is an option, I can't really get it to grow in my tank, and I have 390wt of CF lighting, dose ferts, CO2....
-Bulbitis is a very tough plant, accepts lower lighting, but is a slow grower.
-Rotala (green, not red) will do ok in lower lighting, fast grower.

Are you wanting plants for aquascape, filtration, both? What are the other tank inhabitants?

Thanks!! I want plants for both!! Ohter tank inhabitants are dwarf pike cichlids and neon tetras in one tank, and poly. senegal, 4 line catfish, and maybe some congo tetras in the other tank.

I was mainly concerned that your fish list wouldn't eat the plants. It looks ok to me. Most planted tank people, myself included, dont use carbon in their filtration. I have so many plants (pitures) that I don't even use sponge media for bacterial growth. I only use filter mesh to catch solids (leaves and such). I basically use the filter, and a powerhead, just for water movement.

I have huge pieces of wisteria that I'm trying to get rid of. 5 or so plants, 2 of them are about 24 inches tall, rest about 12-18inches. If you are interested, you can have them for $10 shipped.

^I'm definitely interested. I will let you know by the end of the week.

So the plants I'll be looking to put in my tanks are:

Wisteria
Water Sprite
Amazon swords
Anubias sp.
Java fern (just bought 8 4-6" plants for $24)
Bolbitus heudelotii
Green Rotala
Anacharis

I found a site that sells every single one of these plants so I'll most likely buy from them and pick up the wisteria from you evercl92 :)

I'm also gonna try and pick up some narrow leaf java fern since I like how they look as well!

Thanks guys

Brian

looks like for 4 or 5 of each of all the plants on my list will cost around $70 excluding shipping from AZ to PA, not including the narrow leaf java fern.
