what are some fast growing low light/tech plants?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here are a few shots of my tank as of now. I also took some pics of the newly acquired 2Nandus nandus hangin' out with my Leopard Ctenopomas as well as some shots of my Congo and Blue Tetras but those suckers are hard to focus on!

All in all, I'm very happy with my aquascape so far and I'm waiting on 2 more things to complete it!

Enjoy!

I'll post pics of my 20gal Long Planted Tank this weekend once I get some black ground for it.

certainly looks like ambush-predator heaven... I definately like it. The tall plants I sent really fill out the tank rather quickly. Before you know it, you'll be into the whole line of ferts, co2, lighting...

Edit:
Feel free to take out half of the biomedia in the filters. (that many) plants should take over filtration, and do a pretty decent job of it. I only run a thin piece of cloth, to catch solids. I let the plants enjoy the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. You'll prob have better growth too, since the plants won't be competing with bacteria for a source of nitrogen. I'd remove the other half in a week or so, just so you dont have a bacterial bloom.

Any new/ recent pics? Curious to see how the plants are filling in.

lol, I was actually thinking of posting a few last night! I aquascaped my final pieces of driftwood for the tank and also attached 4 6x6" pieces of Taiwan Moss I picked up on Ebay onto each of the legs of the driftwood. It's a great center piece, but you can still see the green 4lb fishing line I used to attached the moss to the wood so I was waiting until the moss grew over the line. I was thinking about possibly cutting some of the line off to see if the moss would remain attached and not dislodge itself.

I'm 100% satisfied with my aquascape for this tank and I feel that I'm done! All I need now are my fish! I have an awesome oddball tank going right now with the Nandus, Ctenopoma and Congos. But I would LOVE to get a Bagarius bagarius catfish to really add a unique predator to the tank! Although their larger cousins are VERY aggressive, from talking to many Bagarius bagarius owners on the net, I've come to the conclusion that this smaller species is very mellow and often times kept with other tankmates. They grow to about 8 inches and would be a great oddball specimen. I plan on removing my Pimelodus blochii and I'd love to get another cat, specifically a Parauchenoglanis guttatus, but I don't think I'll have enough room since I have plans for a couple bichirs in the tank as well.

Maybe this weekend I'll take some more pics. I gotta rub some algae off the glass too :)
