So i have been thinking about a 55 gallon fish tank stock, and i just love natives!!! i was thinking about the little fish that you can catch with a cast net. what are they? lol and i catch them all the time in my backyard.

Iam guessing they are Gambusia

Gambusia (mosquitofish) aren't really baitfish, but it's one example. A similar one would be wild sailfin mollies. The best FW baitfish in Florida (from my experience) are shad and golden shiners. The shad won't survive being caught in a net, so you can scratch that off the list. Golden shiners are great; they are probably the best bass bait and they are similar to ditherfish like tinfoil barbs. However, they do get about 10". I have caught and kept them before with other natives. If you want to go smaller you could get some seminole killifish, golden topminnows, flagfish, or bluefin killifish.

hey i went fishing with my buddy today and realized they are sunfish!!!!!!!
so how many do you think could live comfortably in a 55 gallon? is it possible to get the to eat flakes, pellets, or frozen food? what about aquascaping?
thanks!

what kind of sunfish? this is very important to know as some get much larger than others and that determines the amount that can comfortably live in a 55 gallon aquarium. generally, 3 or 4 should be able to live comfortably in there, maybe more maybe less depending on what you have.

aquascaping for sunfish: provide them with plenty of hiding space. driftwood and plants! :D
