I know Boulengerochromis and Frontosa are the larger piscivores. Ranging about 36" and 12-14", respectively. I don't believe I have ever seen anything in the middle. Anything from that lake reach 10"-18" and can be kept in a 200 gallon community. I am debating on Front's cause they are growing on me...just gotta get past that huge humphead.

Currently housing small juv colony of Tropheus Moori and a couple Callochromis. This is a newly set up tank. I am trying to stock it...but I am being very careful with fish selection.

Thanks for the info.

go to mongabay.com and foolow cichlid links or type in tang fish in the search there and they list all the species of the lake and sizes

the only fronts with big foreheads are burundi, other varients like the kampampa or moba arent as thick and dont have the huge hump.

That's good to know then. I have been looking at Moba's lately. My aquarium is fairly well lit througout the day so i'm not sure how ideal this would be. I'm going to also look into featherfins. I'm guessing I can't mix too many sand sifters with featherfins.

Damn this big ass aquarium!

Thank you for all your replies.

My tang tank has a saltwater dual t5 light on it for a long time out of the day and my fronts arent stressed. And wrong not only do burundi have the huge humps most all do. My friend has a kigoma colony and all the males have very large humps, another guy 15 min from me has a wild moba colony of 7 and 3 of them have large humps.

Chris, the bigger the tank, the better! Personally, I like lamps. Take a look into cunningtoni and kendalli. There are also some petrochromis that get pretty large, but I rarely see these around. If you're looking for color, try and get your hands on B. tricoti. Tricoti won't reach 10", but they are nice fish.
I know you are asking for cichlids, but I had to mention lamprichthys tanganicanus. Again, these guys are not cichlids, but i had to add them in. I've always wanted a school. I think they would look nice in a 200 gallon.

I am actually going to buy some L tanganicanus for midwater. Wanted something a little different from Cyp's. I will probably have a mix of midwater. I am looking into some lamps but I am hesitant because i'd LOVE to see some Tanganicanus fry. I just know the lamps will be out in feeding frenzy force. Either way, I am planning an order with Reserve Stock Cichlids vey soon.

Thanks for all the replies!
