thanks guys

i released all but the biggie that would eat from my hand (already XD) and i slowly raised his temp to near 75. and he's fine. now he's in with my afrocichs and he and my same-size Acei and "rooming together" and they always follow eachother around.

i know it is EXTREMELY unlikely, but could the possibly breed?

They are definitely 100% bluegill. I would not recommend keeping him with the African cichlids, because of temperament problems that will occur.

Bluegill are easy to breed in captivity. Just get a male♂ and a female♀, feed them well, and keep them at about 75°F. The male will dig out a pit in the substrate about twice his length in diameter. Well fed females typically lay at least 10,000 eggs. Part of the reason they are one of the most popular forage fish for bass.

if you want to keep a sunfish, get a orange spot, longear sunfish, western dollar sunfish, or something else, the bluegill's will be very drab in color compaired to the african's and it will be MUCH more aggressive when its an adult.

ive got 5 adult longear's and a 3" green sunfish, ive got about 10 small .5-1.5" sunfish as well my adults will weed out the smallest ones and eat them, but regular bluegill are just not a very colorful/attractive fish.
