Ya they are caused with too much left over food. Harmless to fish just a sighn to change water pretty much

Bro.. dont know if this is what you are talking about... i had posted this video and i was dreading the reply... anywayz after the reply i got from james i pretty much left it to that... and belv me i vacuum clean evry other day as this is a GO and regular water changes with no food left over... so this is no case of overfeeding or leftovers in ma tank atleast...

It's funny. Saltwater keepers know the benefit of a complete ecosystem in their tanks, but freshwater people freak the moment something that isn't a fish appears. What you have are natural components of a healthy aquarium. You should have dozens of living animals that are either invisible or barely visible. Some are worms, some are crustaceans, but they are almost always helpful. They generally eat algae, fish waste, and smaller critters. If you see them on the fish, then you have a parasite.

I have had the same problem for about 2yrs now. I tried getting rid of them but for some reason they come back. No matter how much you vac they will still pop up....... trust me!.. you can use the best dyson vacuum, they are still gonna live in your filter system and once you vac all the ones in your tank they the new batch from your filter will appear lol. They never never bothered my fish so just like the last post said my be it is a benefit and something we just never realized we had..

Im not sure if their benificial or not. But since they have showed up in my tank my pbass will dart randomly, shake and twitch his fins like theres so,mething irritating him and like I said in my origional post, he has developed this odd looking little whitish red bumb in the corner of his pectoral fin and gill. I have tried meds and it hasnt dissapired. Could it be a type of fungus?

now if u have something on the pbass its definitely a matter of concern... try and get some pics of the fins....

I will try again tomorrow for a shot of the lumpy thing on him, he never sits still long enough to get a decent shot, and never seems to show me the side I want to see for more than a few seconmds. But will definatly try and get a decent pic. It hasnt gotten any bigger, but definatly has started showing a slight redish colour in the past day or so. Its not a open sore or wound as theres nothing sharp or pointy to hurt himself on, but hes definatly showing signs of something irritating him. Duno if its the lump or the worms. Or even a combo of both.

I still believe they are a warning sign of to much feeding. Since I have cut down to feeding every other day, water change at least once a week I haven't seen them unless I neglect the tank.

Well my real concern is - whats if its internal? Almost like when dogs get wroms and they are spread around by their poop? Is that possible for fish to have enternal worms that they can poop out?

I know fish can have worms, but I dontknow if they can follow the properties like you find in dogs with worms?

Also the growth on my pbass seems to be getting better on its own with water changes (50%) twice a week and salt in the tank. But I still dont want to move him to his next tank without knowing what these wormy things are just incase it is a health issue.

I clean the filters on his tank twice a month to make sure theres no worms in their reproducing, its a bare bottom tank so they are not hiding under any gravel. All the plants in there are fake, and I purposely underfeed any rosies in their so I know theres no left over food. And I always wait at least a day or two before grabbing more feeders. Sometimes even a week if the 2 lfs in my area are out of feeders. Someone before suggested possible bug larva, but I think by now I would have noticed them growing and turning into something else, which isnt happening.
