DO NOT put tinfoil barbs permanently in a 29 gallon, they grow past 1 ft. A good alternative would be giant danios.mosschops;2295273; said:Hi, they could be juvenile Texas cichlids, as they look almost the same as mine but it is hard to tell by not seeing them in the flesh and they are often confused with the JD, as look amazingly similar. Normally, the males will colour up more than the females and both of them will have a black underbelly when ready to mate. The mouth locking is just a territorial thing between 2 of the same sex, once you've established a pair then make sure you move the other one out if you want fry to survive and add some other fast swimming fish like tin foil barbs. The mother tends to be more aggressive and will give her something to focus on while the male looks after the kids.Water changes tend to make these fish horny so don't be surprised at how quickly they get on with it! lol.![]()
