dunno...prob food for the rope whenever he is hungry. any suggestions?
and u think i should wait till they pair off and return the one that doesnt? or are u saying pick either the cons or the rope and keep one of these and return the other?

btw i love ur avitar
it reminds me of gizmo :')
he was a lil retarded but he stuck around longer than the others

I think you should pick your favorite male and your favorite female. They aren't picky, they'll breed with anything. You could even grow them out a bit just to make sure what you get. I'm positive that once they hit the 2" mark they'll start to breed. Maybe sooner.

I don't remember where I got this avatar, but I've had it for awhile. I just love the fact that it's a squirrel drinking Guinness. lol

:screwy: marble is pink x normal con

wrong.

I bred a pink male and black female to find out. They all came out black.

lol so the marble is a lil bigger than 2" and the other 2 are just around 2"
one of the ones that is getting chased the most has a really big belly...i have a 14 day guarantee so if they dont pair up by then should i take em back and try to find a female?

Hi, they could be juvenile Texas cichlids, as they look almost the same as mine but it is hard to tell by not seeing them in the flesh and they are often confused with the JD, as look amazingly similar. Normally, the males will colour up more than the females and both of them will have a black underbelly when ready to mate. The mouth locking is just a territorial thing between 2 of the same sex, once you've established a pair then make sure you move the other one out if you want fry to survive and add some other fast swimming fish like tin foil barbs. The mother tends to be more aggressive and will give her something to focus on while the male looks after the kids.Water changes tend to make these fish horny so don't be surprised at how quickly they get on with it! lol.
DO NOT put tinfoil barbs permanently in a 29 gallon, they grow past 1 ft. A good alternative would be giant danios.

i dont think they are juvenile tx i looked up some pix on them and they dont really look similar...
thx for the advice on when they have babies!

Oh my. So much miss-information in this thread.

You have three convicts. Two normal and one "marble". There is no EBJD (electric blue jack dempsey) in any of them...

Marbles are not made by crossing a pink con and a normal con, as stated, that produces all normal looking or 50% normal and 50% pink, depending on the genes of the normal con (either AA or Aa, homozygous dominant or heterozygous...we won't get into genetics).
