i feel dumb for asking but, what's tebowing?

Tim Tebow, quarterback for the Dolphins who kind of wears his Christian faith on his sleeve.I didn't see the game but he must have kneeled in a praying position after a big play on Sunday and this thing seems to going viral now.

Tim Tebow is a very religous quarterback for the Denver Broncos. I believe he got his first win as a starter recently against the Miami Dolphins. After he scored the go ahead touchdown, while his teammates were celebrating, he took a knee and started praying. This started an internet trend similar to planking. In Tebow's last game, after he took a sack against Detroit, the player that tackled him started Tebowing.

Here is a Tebowing video. There are a bunch now on YouTube.

OOps,I meant to state that he was QB for Denver.

you guys have the gist of it (your facts about tebow are a lil off about his wins) but the rest is spot on.

this is what happened two weeks ago after a game (keep in mind he's been doing this since college)

then it became an internet sensation, the next "planking"

then this week his opponents started doing it after they made a play on him. nothin to do with mocking his religion. just poking fun at the internet fad. listen to the announcers on this one

There ya go, you now have the brief two and a half week history of tebowing

maybe it's just me, but these things that go viral and/or trendy (like planking and such) are really retarded.

and random? i mean, what exactly turns something into a fad/viral/trendy?

what was so special about what he did? people do it all the time in sports. manny pacquiao always prays in the corner immediately after he ko/tko's someone or after the decision announcement declares he's the winner. and everyone is cheering in his corner and in the stadium while he's doing what tebow did. but why does tebow get all the attention?

I don't know....maybe because pac is not the only boxer who has made such gestures in the ring before or after a fight. That kind of thing has gone for years in boxing. As far as Tebow and football though, there is quite a bit of showboating and celebratory antics that go on so I don't know why this has taken off the way it has.

that's the thing about internet fads/meme's/sensation, you NEVER know what's going to take off. i bet if the 3 of us put our heads together and tried to go viral, we couldn't. sh** just happens and it blows up. like i said, tebow has been praying in game/after game since college (that'd be 6 years ago when he started his college career) and other players do it.

i mean look at the b.s. that has become internet fame. double rainbow guy? hand dance guy? DBZ IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!, beside intruder guy? boxxy? none of it makes sense but it just happens and we enjoy it when it happens because it become a talking point
