She was displaying spawning behavior for a few days before that, I separated them because he was harassing her, sunday he busted through, they started working as a team instantly prepping the nest. Came home from work to a crapload of eggs

the display can be mistaken for aggression, she will lip lock, open mouth bite his side and push but not close or hit with force. then swim to where she wants to spawn.
 
its actually quite interesting to watch. female does allot to get the male going and testing him, probs arrive if the male is ready and she is not, or she just flats piss him off. pretty much same dance for JD and Oscars, just jags can be so much meaner and do so much more dmg.
