What are your opinions about hybrid cichlids?

Nearly as often as the "what pair should i get" threads

I have had hybrids in the past, but have since seen the error of my ways. Anything i own now has and will come from a reputable source, so i know what i have.

These threads pop up on here all the time. Ur gonna find people who like them and people who dont. The fact is hybrids may look nice(sometimes), but they arent good for the hobby as they take away from the breeding species to make them.

I guess their being good or bad entirely rest in "the eye of the beholder", so to speak I really like FH, they are as if they have gotten the best of different cichlids to build one awesome fish.

You cannot discredit FH just because they are "man made"... under such criteria you should disqualify Dogs, Cats, Horses and many other domestic "man made" animal.

If you posted this question in the hybrid section you might get different replys. A lot of the people over here wouln't reply because this topic always starts some serious debates and is avoided by most due to the.......well lets just say it's best avoided altogether.

I agree Oscars are great, their personalities are awesome but I'd give a FH a plus cause FH's are more beautuiful.....

All a Flower horn is, is a Trimac and the FH are overrated

That's definitely down to personal preference, and whether you like to use your fish as a tee They do have some beautiful colours though !

fh has ruined the ability to buy a trimac outside of an online vender with known genetics and having it be a credible trimac. dont like them even though some have amazing colors
