well that just answer that question. just saw my pleco dart really fast up to the needle and back down. good thing the needle was faster or i think he may have been hit or caught by the pleco. so back he goes. as for a replacement. what do you guys think. only other fish in the tank is a needle fish in a 40gal tank(i think it's 40)

Since it's a Common Pleco and a 40g tank...trade it in for some credit and get another Bichir:D

only bad thing is they most likly won't have a birch where i can trade it in. or if they do it will really small. but as for the needle fish any ideas what to do get it to eat? so far no luck

Im guessing theres a dried up fish sitting somewhere around that tank

yea all in all it's odd. but i'm not going to worry too much about it. what i am worried about is the needle fish not eating. any sugestions. i've tryed live feeders, frozen shrimp, pletts and even flakes. oh even threw a cricket in there. so farhe won't even look at the food. i'm kinda lost as i'm new to these fish. but yea the pleco think is odd. really odd. anything else you sugest to get if they don't have a birch?

BICHIR. as far as the needle fish: If it's the common kind of needle fish found at most petsmart/petcos then try feeders. It's what they like until you can get them off live foods if you so choose. Sometimes silversides work as well. Good Luck!

yes it's the common one's you find at petsmart. i've tryed rosey red feeders. he won't even look at them let alone go after them. left them in the tank for 2 days and nothing

plecos will eat fish... do not underestimate them. especially when they get bigger they dont care much for algae anymore. He could have eaten the slime coat, bullied or just stressed the birch to death. Once a fish is dead a pleco will sit on top n just scrape all the meat off... n they can do it pretty fast too...
