Ok I soon will be starting an 8 x6 x3 indoor pond build for a couple big cats, and would like some opinions on what pumps work well. Will be making a filter out of rubbermade tubs of some sort.
Any info wil be greatly appreciated .
thanks Paul

For submersible pumps I like Rio.

For inline/external pumps I think Iwaki are the best by far!

Zen ,yes it will be submersible probably about a 5 ft head and 2500 to 3000 gph 'the pond is going to be 8 x 6 x 3 and stocked with a couple cats , tsn and hopefully a rtcxtsn hybrid. As for a filter Im doing a diy with a 3 bin sterlite storeage unit with the water coming in the top drawer full of scrubbies with a floss layer on top the middle drawer full of scrubbies ,the drawers are about 24 x20 x9 inches, and the bottom more scrubbies then fine floss b4 it returns to the pond also going to rig up some spray bars to distribute the water over the layers of media.
This is all in the planning stage so any tips are gratefully accepted.
Thanks Paul

Found a site websonline.com is anything in that site good. I know nothing about pump brands at all

There aren't too many options when it comes to bigger (1000 GPH+) submersibles.

This is what I found in a Pet Solutions catalog:

Quiet One 9000 - 2328 GPH at 0' and 19.5' max head, $179.99
Quiet One 14000 - 3624 GPH at 0' and 34.5' max head, $299.99
Hy-Drive 2600 - 2700 GPH at 0' and 26.5' max head, $219.99
Hy-Drive 3200 - 3500 GPH at 0' and 12' max head, $179.99
ViaAqua 800 - 2200 GPH at 0' and 15' max head, $69.99
Mag 24 - 2400 GPH at 0' and 1700 GPH at 6', $149.99

Quiet One and Mag Drive pumps are well known brands, I haven't heard anything about ViaAqua or Hy-Drive.

Stay away from the quiet 1 9000.......they're far from quiet and close to junk.

If it weren't for being non-submersible, a DART would be a good pump for this application...ya think?
Either a dart or a barracuda. I'm done with submersible pumps. I still haven't found one that I really like.

Dart,,,Barracuda,,thought they where cars...got a site to find them?
