i fed mine hikari massivore pellets wen they were young...then live feeders...and now dead fish. look at the colour of the tail in my avatar. pretty darn RED! Oh and btw...ure RTC is only 5 inches mate...CHILL...it will mature soon enuf. its still a pup so be a little patient

Am I the only one who thinks RTC's tails get redder with age ???? Can anyone post a pic of a under 6-7" with a red tail. ALL of mine were a brownish red until they got larger, then diet play an important roll. I've never seen a 5" RTC with a truely red tail............... YET.

It's DEFINATLY a componant of maturity... The best color enhansing food you can use however is market shrimp lightly coated with paprika. use this once a week.

I need to post some new pictures of Lucy...she's about 20" now and not only has the nice red tail...her other fins are edged in red as well.

Houdini...my MRTC has NO red at all nor do I think he ever will...he IS adorable however and now that he's in a new tank I will finally get to post some pictures of him....

Paprika ?? Humm I was going to wrap some of the cyclopeeze in my market shrimp they are supposed to have the highest levels of Astaxanthene it is a natural color enhancer, which helps promote development of natural pink to orange-red colors of fish. Do you think that would help??

I havn't tryed it...paprika is a little old school trick that's always worked for me to bring out reds.
