What can a oscar eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fellow oscar keeper here.

There's more nutritional value in feeding them a quality pellet food as their staple food, plus it's better for maintaining water quality in your tank.

It's OK to supplement with quality live stuff too, but only on occasion. Guppies, shrimp, insects, fruit, veggies.

Hikari bio gold + (has to have the plus) is a great food for oscars. Not necessarily the best ingredient list, but it helps turn their turds into dust.

Always read the ingredient lists on your foods. You want the first 3-4 ingredients to be whole protein and plant matter. Not grains and fillers.

Yeah you’re going to get killed on this thread, sorry man.
Do a quick search on this site, it will give you the info you need. Feeders from pet store are riddled with disease. You would have to breed your own but the nutrition is better from a good pellet.
If you want to watch the fish go crazy for something live - try crickets. They love em and they arent as riddled with parasites as fish feeders.

Don’t kill him, lol I think he’s a kid. But I second the bugs. I feed my predator tank crickets, meal worms, and sometimes night crawlers and find it very interesting.
