Hi all I’ve just recently bought a 12” -14” inch walking catfish from a friend who just couldn’t find time to keep anymore. Recently moved his tank and changed his features and he’s loving it. Only struggle I’m having at the moment is he’s only interested in bloodworm blocks and I don’t know what else to feed him. Concerned to if I’m not feeding enough or over feeding but don’t want to contaminate the water with waste food he’s not supposed to have or wants. Any help with what people have fed there’s before or know is really appreciated! No luck searching online

Don’t think you need to worry about what to feed. When he gets hungry I will be extremely surprised if he doesn’t eat just about anything. If it’s usual feed for fish of any kind, he/she will eat it. Try whitefish, sprat or tilapia or mussel meat, but also decent sinking pellets.
As you note though, need to keep an eye on water quality as Clarias are eating machines and really good at begging for food.

Currently have 3 filters going in tank and soon be replacing some with a proper gravel filter system as I got him unexpectedly I wasn’t ready in certain aspects to deal with everything at once and still learning as I go. Loving every minute and want to make sure he’s doing well just needs to make sure right diet ect if working as don’t want a super aggressive Hungry fish

May have to give it a few days and try a pellets or cut up fish like tilapia. Can soak with garlic or bloodworm juice. Should eventually get it off of bloodworms.
Have got pellets but floating ones local pet shop recommended but am going to a different one tomorrow to see what other options are. Much appreciated!!!

Ohh I know I’m doing a 15-20% change just overly weekly period and he didn’t really say tbh just that it would eat anything but clearly not from what I’ve tried

I suggest a 50% or more water change weekly because as Fishman Dave Fishman Dave stated the catfish is voracious eater and water quality will be a big concern.
