what can I breed in a 10 gallon tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Buy a male and female, females have orange on thier side, make sure they're between 1.25" and 2.5". Then put them together with plenty of caves, temp 78-80 F, ph doesnt matter, but between 6 and 8. they'll have eggs within a week.

does it work every time for you? what size tanks do you have?

If you want something a little more odd than convicts you could go with a pair of Carinotetraodon loreti (red-eyed puffers). They only get about 2 1/2" long, are FW, are easy to sex, And breed readily in a 10g. They are the only puffer that I find listed as consistantly breeding in captivity.
And they are cute.

would that be ok to feed to fish? do you have any informative links on them with pics?

i had 3 puffers in a 10 gallon for lik 4 months and they never bread.

Do a general web search of "easy to breed cichlids" And look at all the options you come up with. They have to be small at the time you wish to breed in a ten. Cons can breed in a ten for a year or two. You could do some GBR's get like 6 and plant the nuts off the tank. Cons are easy, but seem to survive over and over again! Gbr's will not survive long. (German blue rams) There are a few apistos that would fit the bill as well....good luck guys!

Breed some small species. Danios, Barbs, and Tetras and the sort.

Were they the red-eyed? If so did you have a pair? They markings/coloration on the red-eyed are very different for the two sexes.

I doubt they would make good feeders. I will try to get you some links when I get a chance.
