What can I keep with a bgk

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Watch out for nippy tankmates though, some fish find the bgk's tail irresistible.

My BGK has lived with my bichirs with no problems at all for months now.

Knifefish and bichirs make an awesome combo IMO....

That's what I'm trying to set up right now!

What kind of substrate would you recommend?

Can I keep a geophagus cichlid or a jack dempsey with them?

Geos should be OK, the JD will likely depend on the fish. The many JD's I've kept have all been pretty "middle of the road" when it comes to aggression, and that includes breeding pairs, but if you have a very aggressive JD it might be a problem for your BGK (or geos for that matter).

My ghost will even rip apple snails off the glass to kick them out of his house. We call snail soccer. Had to move the snails. tank size 55 gal

that's a good combo! It will work, I tried.

wait... 55???a 75 will work way better best 100, unless you want your BGK to be hurt as well as the aro.

I have mine with GT, JAG and some other less agro fish

how big are all these fish and how long have you had them together and how big is tank? just wondering because im in process of setting up a CA/SA tank with similar aggressive cichlids (oscar, red terror and either escondido pair or severum pair in a 125g) and would LOVE to have a BGK (would def grow him out first and make sure he was bigger and most likely the first into the tank and all other fish would be added as tiny as possible)
