What can I mix with convicts?

Pretty harsh accusation. Before saying he is wrong, how bout you share your pictures of the 16in jack dempsey? I'll be honest the largest i've ever seen was 12in and i thought that was large for one.

A 16" JD would be a freak of nature. Even if you saw one, that's certainly not typical. JD's rarely even reach 12" much less 16".

Looking forward to the pics; it would be cool to see.

Is there a chance that JD is actually an umbee? Similar to the untrained eye.

Back on topic, you can keep all kinds of fish with Cons, but small fish either need to be very fast or very tough. Better to go with larger cichlids.

i am just trying to pass on correct information, not trolling, you gave this bogus info on two threads and im just correcting it so this person is not scared away from a JD thinking it will outgrow a 55. Even if this is right, it is a freak of nature as said before. The odds of another one getting that big are many to one. Not all JDs get to 16" let alone 10". Any reputable cichlid keeper on this forum would probably agree that a 16" Jack dempsey is a bit rediculous. Esspeciall without proof.

lol someone has a 14" on here... but anyway JD's are so inbred these days they rarelly live their expected life span before they reach that IMO. and most people dont give it a rightful or humane home to begin with.
but i had all of the above in with my convicts. pacus, oscars, jags, firemouths, sevrums, even irridecent sharks. they ended up mating like lil jack rabbits and got their own 55g.

I have a convict breeder pair an they are in a 30g with a bumblebee and they seem to get along fine but when i first got them i had them with two firemouths and my convicts killed them

i think we need to see these pictures of this 16" jd, because i call shenanigans. i hardly doubt that these huge jd's are common at all. a jd will be fine in a 55. i say get a salvini! imho i think jd's are over rated.

did i say all jd's get to 16"? no, i did not. im just making sure he knows that if he wants it for life theres a possibility it will get there

oh and i was away all today and am tired now so ill upload the video tomorrow. it was not an umbee or anything else, i know what both look like and it was 100% jd.

lol i've tryed and tryed and tryed again to have cons with sal's and EVERY single time i do the next day i have to take the sal out.to me the sal acks like a dam killer. and to make shure some ppl understand: the cons were around 3inchs and were in the tank(55gal) long before the sal.and the sal was of the same size. and it seems like they never get along.lol but mybe i just have bad luck...good luck with your 55 set up hope to know what you went with.:):)
