Are you still trying to breed Festaes ? if so I think I can help iv breed fastaes,dovii,trimac,green terror,umbie,jack dempsey,electric blue jack dempses just let me know
 
Definately keep your water as clean as you can. With all my breeders I do 50% water changes every two weeks. Keeping your temp about 80 degrees is usually best and I like to feed my pairs live adult brine shrimp or blood worms. Try slate or another semi-smooth stone for them to attach their eggs.
 
In order for fish to breed, they have to be in spawning condition. Condition the adults with live foods for a couple of weeks. Maintain good water quality with water changes. Raise tank temperature slightly. If fish still don't spawn try doing a very large water change with water that is a few degrees cooler than your tank temperature. Good luck.
 
I really dont know much about it myself but there is a guy on utube that has a full guide. One thing u need to do is raise the temp in the tank and lower the water level.
 
Give them ample space and good water condition and try to create a natural habitat for them.
