So me and my fiance were talking and she asked me what I wanted for my bday. So I'm thinking a canister. But what should I get? Obviously nothing to crazy In price. The setup is a 40 gall on ( I believe) with a redtail ( not pernament home) catfish and a bull head. As of right now I have 2 aquatech 30-60 filters. Stays pretty clean!

You have to understand there's a lot and I do mean a lot of threads on what kind of filter people would suggest. There was even one this month and it received some attention but think how you'd feel if asked the same question over and over. If you use the search function on here and you should be able to find plenty of info. As far as this site being a joke( if your serious) you'll find comments like that do little to motivate anyone to help you and say them enough and I imagine you'll find that no one here will help you. Which would be a pity as if you are really into being educated in fishkeeping there's no better place than ]v[FK and you'd be ostracizing a valuable resource for yourself.

Check out Fluval, they make a great canister filter. I bought a 304 (older generation) in 2000 and its still running perfectly to this day. They're very easy to maintain as well. I believe that model is a 306 now and it would be perfect for your 40 gallon tank.

FLUVAL 305 or 306 or rena xp2 or xp3 would be my advice

What about the ones I posted? They have UV steralizers built in any good? I was thinking a fluval is there any way to adjust the flow on those?

no way to adj. flow on 304 or 305 or 306 that I know of ,the only one you posted I could see is a knock-off of the 305,it might be fine but I know first hand the 304's and 305's are good

I've never known anybody to run a UV sterelizer on a freshwater tank, my guess is it will benefit you but to what degree i do not know. as far as adjusting flow rate there is no actual switch or lever that adjusts it, however you can change the flowrate by packing the chambers with more media.
