what canisters are okay for salt????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Canisters are nitrate factories. Lots of live rock & a good skimmer is best.

We have a rather large number of "Crap" fluval 404/405's running with no problems at all and, in fact, have others on order. The seals work just fine as long as you follow the directions (lubricate and peroidicly replace them)

The flow rate when loaded is almost 3 times that of an xp3. (measured with an inline flow meter.) The xp3 in question was then moved to a relitives aquarium for the 4 months until it's case split and we trashed it.

As that may be, I can only go by my experience and the experience of others I've known that run them. If they work for you, good, but I can't recommend them myself.

I've seen several people, such as you, that swear by them, but many more bad experiences than good, including me. So either there's some reason people can't maintain them correctly, or there are too many that don't perform as they are supposed to, neither is a good thing.
