I am going to get 1 or 2 Eheims and just not sure which models to get.The tank is 180 gallons.I am thinking of the ProIII 2080 with the 500 watt heater, and a ProIII 2078,or just anotherr 2080 without the heater.
I plan on keeping large messy cichlids and plecos, and I know the more filtration the better. This is just my first tank this large, and am not sure if one 2080 is enough(probably not) and what to add with it.
Anybody got some advice?

For a tank that size I might go with the 2260 or if you had the cash a 2262. Have you looked in to them ?

Also for budget 2 ac110's and an FX5 would be a good setup..

Oh and as for your sig. Hell yeah I got glock :)

When choosing a filter for any tank size all you have to do is aim for the correct turnover rate. And the rest is just media choice with the space given.

In a recent poll mfkers liked 8-10X plus turn over rates when using HOB style filters. 6-8x turn over rates with canisters and 4-6x turn overs with sump style filters.

So take your tank volume(180g) and multiply that times the correct turn over rate given for your choice in filtration style and your all set.

With canisters it is important to find out what kind of GPH that they flow loaded with media. Because it is alot less than the advertised GPH rating. If you can not find the info you can get real close by taking the advertised GPh rating and subtracting 50%. This holds true for most popular canister filters.

Good info,thanks.

What kind of media/how much should you use for the 2262?
I don't seem to be able to find any pads for them either.
