What catfish for my tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll revert to type and give my usual answer, bolt catfish. Interesting, active, can hold its own with cichlid etc. Won't always be hidden, won't get too big for that size tank, different but not ultra expensive or tank buster.
How big will they Get? And what’s there diet? and will a vulture catfish get too big?

Vulture way too big, by about 1 foot longer than the width of your tank. Bolts get to about 13.5" SL, without the tail. How long they get to their full size will depend on water quality, genetics, and diet.

My hoplo catfish didn’t get the memo that catfish are suppose to swim on the bottom, most of the time he’s hovering near the top.

Mine often go up and splash at the top when gulping air before heading down again, spooked me when they first started it because I had thought something had jumped out.

What do bolts eat?

Pretty much anything fed to the tank (for fish) although will ignore flake. Will eat mussels, fish bits, bloodworm ( less as they grow), catfish pellets, civilisation pellets, prawn, etc. Etc.
