I'm not sure what catfish to get for my setup, the thank is a 225g (2.5'Wx6'Lx2'D) and in the near future there will be a 4'x8'x3' but I don't want something that gonna outgrow the 225 in 3 months lol it's got a black painted background and I want to add black marbled or slate tiles as the bottom.

I would really like something that's colour will pop! Against the dark tiles and so far I am thinking TSN or jurense (not a massive fan of tigs)

My stock is
Giraffe catfish (occidentalis)
Moto stingray
TT eel
African pike
And 10 clow loaches
May possibly add a banjar aro at some point

I know there may be some casualties but I have had good luck keeping CL's with big cats, the TT is fairly large so my biggest concern is my pike but he's growing very fast...

I can get most stuff as small juvis about 2-3"

A non-all-out-predatory albino, amelanistic, or piebald cat, like an IDS, walking cat, Hemibagrus nemurus? I can't think of anything more "poppy" than white on black?

Oh, you want the colors to brighten up ON the catfish? I was thinking you wanted the cat to be highly visible against the blackness of your tank?

Yes the actual catfish colours, I have PFS as the substrate but it's making the colours on my fish look washed out and my 1st tsn was on black gravel and looked stunning, just want other opinions on what would look really good in that set up

I tend to think any/most of our usual fish would look their best in an all black tank with proper lighting, so I'd pick a safe cat that's beautiful to your eye. TSN+CL is not good. TSN at any size and age is no good with anything that IT THINKS it can swallow. Neither is juruense.

IDK. Vulture cat? Irwini? Syno decorus? Chrysichthys ornatus? Pimelodus ornatus?

The interplay of background color and the lighting is not trivial... but I have never played with black substrate + black background.

Yea I know :/ I could rehome the CLs but I would worry about the eel and pike eventually. I like vulture cats but I've looked for them before and they seem very rare in the uk, I want something active (for a catfish lol) I have thought about an ornate pim a few times but have never seen an adult and they look a little dull in the pics I've seen tho I'm sure they're not when seen in person, I will try and find some
