What causes bent ventral fins in angelfish?

I think he means the actual rays of the fin bend somewhere along the line causing the whole fin to bend say halfway up with a very deformed look, not just fins sweeping back at the base.

I think it is just weak bad genetics. Perhaps from too much interbreeding.
