What causes the white film that builds up on the sides of the tank when you do not fill it up all the way up with water? Is there an additive you can add to the water to stop this?

Its prob calcium. Why don't you fill your tank up all the way. I can't stand when my tanks water level drops below the rim.

Could have cats like mine that "go fishing" when it's filled all the way up. Every water change I try to scrub it down...doesn't get it completely but whatcha gonna do aboot hard water eh?

Water deposits are a pain.....Removing from lids or empty tanks is easy...plain old white vinegar. i do not suggest you try it on your tank with fish though!

Hard water stains. Mineral deposits.

That is my biggest pet peeve. I can't stand for my tanks water level to be low.

I just take a scrubber and every time I do my tank maintenance I scrub it down as much as I can. I don't use anything on it as I'm afraid it will hurt my fish...doesn't look the best but keeping it in check.

I just use a razor, it works really good.. but I wouldn't try it with an acrylic tank..something similar to this.. I got mine for like $2 bucks.. although they can get more expensive..
